 IAH - SJD Summer 2017

This was our First Family trip with the whole gang. Us, the kids, Our Moms and my Beautiful Sister in Law. Our oldest Son skipped this trip along with my Brother who instead chose to party in Beautiful Sunny San Diego.

How did we get there?

Ye old faithful Spirit. I think we paid right around $1,000 for all 7 of us including luggage out of IAH. We didn't choose seats, and all 7 of us had seats together which was nice. We had the same on the return. No problems and no complaints.

Shuttle:

Jose was our driver from the airport to our resort. He was awesome and very personable. He made sure we were very comfortable the entire trip. We were provided as much Agua & Cerveza as we could handle. We laughed, joked and engaged in small talk for the duration of the trip. He was also kind enough to give us dining recommendations if we decided to leave the resort.

Our driver on the trip to the airport was on time and very efficient. He didn't talk much but he got us from
Point A to B safe & sound.

Where We Stayed:

Hotel Riu Santa Fe
RIU Santa Fe is the LIT Resort, the party is definitely at the RIU. It is a full on party and that  was awesome. The night time entertainment was nice and the Michael Jackson show was EVERYTHING! And those are the highlights of the resort.
The food is horrible, and I mean that in the most sincere way I know how. The only thing worth eating are the Tacos prepared in the Quad. We ate these EVERY NIGHT! Sometimes you could find something similar for lunch. But the buffets are gross. run. eat off the resort if you can.The rooms are decent, but the double beds are pushed together which was fine for us because we shared a room with our kids. But I think it would be rather awkward for anyone else.Wifi, you get 2 devices per room. There is an additional charge for each additional device you need wifi for. And the wifi was very slow and didn't connect a lot of the time.We were a family of 7, 5 adults and 2 kid and we booked 3 rooms. We will likely never stay at another RIU resort, unless it is a Palace. This was the worst resort we've ever stayed in.

What We Did:

Restaurant El Pescador

My husband is very adventurous and I love local eats. We ventured in off of the main streets (across from the Marina) and we wandered into El Pescador with our entire family. Our Moms, kids and my SIL. It doesn't look like much from the street but once we walked in we were greeted so warmly when we entered that we knew we had found the perfect place.
Once we sat down appetizers that included Salsa, Guacamole, Thick homemade tortilla chips and the FRESHEST & TASTIEST Tuna ever were promptly placed in front of us. My picky daughter was constantly requesting more Tuna and I certainly didn't blame her.
Our party of 7 ordered Lobster and either shrimp or steak to accompany it. The food was amazing and fresh. The garlic butter they use to cook with is PERFECT!
The service was impeccable and there was never an empty drink in front of any of us.
If you happen to head to CABO make sure to find your way to El Pescador you will be glad that you did.

Glass Bottom Boat Tour

We ventured off of our resort and caught a bus to the Marina. Once we exited the mini mall we were greeted by Victor and he convinced us to try a boat tour; not that much convincing was needed. He quoted us a very fair price of $100 for 7 people including 3 snorkel sets. My husband is a bit of a germ a phobe and we went back into the mini mall to buy snorkel sets from the pharmacy.
We met Victor back outside and he guided us to his boat. His daughter helped us onto the boat and off we went. Once the boat started moving he made sure that we all put on life vests for our safety.
He calmly took us out into the water and gave us a brief bit of history of the arches and all of the surrounding areas. It was incredibly interesting. His daughter actually had my phone and took lots and lots of pictures of us and for us while we enjoyed the boat ride. We didn't ask her to but she did so graciously. If not for her we would have missed out on capturing some amazing memories. We are/we're very grateful that she did that for us.
Victor then took the boat closer to lovers beach and allowed my family to snorkel. They didn't want to stay out long so Me, My Mom and my Mother in Law waited on the boat with Victor and his lovely daughter. We stayed about 20 minutes and went back to the Marina.
It was a great trip and one that I definitely recommend to anyone visiting Cabo.

 Amigos Cabo Moto Rent
We chose to ride the "Buggys" instead of the atv's. We paid for 3 Buggys, and mouth scarves for each of our riders. After everyone at the park had paid, we were escorted to our vehicles. Once inside we were informed to keep our vehicles in "H" which was for fast speeds and we were off to the races.
Our first stop was up a small hill area we were led to the most beautiful beach view. Once we reached the top we were instructed to turn off the engines and exit the vehicles. We were able to take pictures at the top of the hill/mountain which over looked the ocean. We stayed there for about 15 minutes. We then all loaded into the vehicles and went off on another adventure.
Our next adventure took us on a lot of fun, fast turns. We were then able to let loose on about 2-3 miles of straight aways where we were able to hit top speeds 65-75 mph. We then went up a narrow and windy mountain. It was kinda scary and most of us kinda took our time on this. We ended up in a small town with a small store, school and church. Many went into the church to say a small prayer and leave an offering. The tour guides gave us some history on the town and bottles of water because it was really hot.
On our way back to the grounds one of the Buggys stalled out. Our tour guides noticed they were missing pretty quickly and stopped the tour. They then went back to find them. It's good to know that they are paying attention because it's easy to make a wrong turn. They called in for another Buggy and we were on our way.
Pricing. We were quoted $300 for 2 (2 seaters) and an additional $175 for a 3 seater. These prices were "quoted" as 50% off due to our purchase of a "Cabo Passport Card". We were fine with this when we were picked up from our hotel for the trip. However this price changed when we arrived, we were charged an additional $140 for "park entrance". We were already way out in the middle of nowhere so we agreed to pay. We paid via credit card, and the currency was changed over to pesos. After checking my account online there was an additional 10% added and I have no idea where it came from!!!! They also attempted to charge us an additional $50 per buggy for insurance. We declined and were told that they would have to keep our credit card information on file in case of damage. Whatever. We were then told we needed mouth scarves at $2.50 x 7 and those fees had to be paid in cash.
Also don't go there with really nice clothes and bring SUNGLASSES. There is dirt and sand everywhere. We looked like we had literally jumped in a pool of sand.
All in all it was an awesome experience, but with all of the pricing discrepancies I would suggest people go elsewhere.
The guides are awesome and if you do decide to go, as customary in Mexico make sure to bring them a TIPO :-)
